2012 Weekend Return Exchange to St. Louis, Missouri

Our group of 19 ambassadors set off early for St. Louis to meet our hosts at the Chandler Hill Vineyards. The afternoon was free with hosts to get the friendships off to a great start.

On our second day we visited the Missouri Botanical Gardens – great place to enjoy nature and wonderful artwork. We next traveled to Grant Farm where one of our hosts, Bill Ebert, was our tour guide on the tram – of course; all the animals were in the wrong part of the park, which was not normal on Bill’s tours. The day ended with a Reims Theater experience that was outstanding – “My One And Only” was presented by some very talented artist.

The third day we toured the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica with Dee Ebert as our host. The church is known for its large mosaic installation (which is the largest in the world), burial crypts, and the addition of an outdoor sculpture to promote racial harmony. After the tour participants went to various additional attractions that included Pere Marquette State Park, St. Charlie’s Main Street, St. Louis Zoo and others.

Our journey was completed with a farewell dinner at Glendale City Hall where SL Club members held a contest for the best dinner setting – this was a lot of fun to see the different settings. Good friends, good food and good farewell party.

Our journey was very successful with the development and renewal of friendships between St. Louis club members and our club.

Some of ambassadors took a detour home and went to visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois. Wonderful place to learn about a part of America’s history.
