Return Las Vegas ExchangeFebruary 12-17, 2012
Eight ambassadors returned the visit to our Las Vegas friends for a fun filled 5 day journey. The journey was entitled “The Other Side of Vegas” and that was a great title for what we got to experience. We started off with warm and welcoming host at a home-hosted dinner party with great food and socializing. The next day we had a picnic at Red Rock Canyon that is just breathtaking in it’s beauty. We did not let strong winds and some rain ruin our day.
They took us back to the pass with the Jubilee at Bally’s for an original Vegas show with show dancers – big feather costumes were beautiful. How do they walk with those big feather hats on? A special treat for us was to get to take the backstage tour with one of the showgirls as our guide. There is so much more behind the scenes then anyone would think about. It was all very impressive.
The visit to the National Atomic Testing Museum was very “eye opening” for us to learn about how and where the test were conducted in the US.
Ambassadors got to go separate directions and so other sites like the Hoover Dam with new bridge, Lake Las Vegas, and others.
We ended our journey with a farewell potluck hosted by Dee’s daughter at her home and enjoyed fun games, good food, and great friendships. We headed home on an early flight so getting to the airport at 3:30 AM was almost a “sleep walk” for us.
