Mystery Weekend with Northern IllinoisJune 22-25, 2012
Seven ambassadors from the Northern Illinois club traveled to Cedar Rapids for a Mystery Exchange, but I think it was more of a mystery for our club members then theirs because they were told where they were going a few days early.
It was only a weekend but it was full of fun and friendships starting with a tour of Coe College’s art collection that includes some of Grant Wood’s famous artwork. A welcome potluck was held at Ellis Park, overlooking the Cedar River, to finish off the day.
Their second day was spent traveling outside the city limits with a tour of the Anamosa Penitentiary Museum, the Grant Wood Gallery and the Herbert Hoover Library and grounds. Back in Cedar Rapids we boarded a trolley and toured downtown Cedar Rapids learning about the history of Cedar Rapids.
Sunday was a free day for hosts and ambassadors to have time to nurture their friendships and see other sites the ambassadors chose.
On Monday morning a breakfast get together was held at Huntington’s Restaurant to say farewell and wish them a safe trip home.
